she will bee remembered

I don't know how people move on after the loss of someone they love.

In this case, it was one of the most amazing dogs. Her name was Kyla. She was my sister's husky. She was so intuitive, funny, smart, caring and adamant when it came to her letting us know when she had to go outside and when she was thirsty.

She suffered from seizures and was on medications to try and contain them. She had gotten into the trash and later on in the month started showing signs of pancreatitis. She ended up passing away from it. It all happened so fast.

My sister was pregnant and Kyla was always near her side. We took her announcement  pictures with Kyla and never thought she wouldn't be around when we took the newborn pictures.

This was what my sister posted shortly after:

After a week of living in the house with no Kyla, Patrick and I have learned a few things. Here is what she would be saying right now: 1. "Yes I strategically placed all those squeaky tennis balls in hidden places for you to get a smile during the week. Makes vacuuming under the couch more of a fun thing right!?"2. "I bet you are using a lot less kitchen hand towels to clean up my water I would drip after I drank my whole bowl down in 2 mins.... You're welcome"3. "The only purpose for your sliding glass doors was to let me out to see the world which brings me to #4..."4. "I know cleaning off my nose prints on those doors was the hardest thing you had to do, and it made you cry, but there was nothing like pressing my wet nose to them when I greeted the neighbors dog or just needed the extra closeness to the outside."5. "Miss my breath yet!?"6. "I know that you feel lonely in the mornings when you wake up, but I hope you know you guys were just the best and I loved you very much."7. "Don't be sad that I didn't get to meet the lil baby, I will always be watching over him and I knew from the very beginning that he was there, why do you think I stayed by your side?"8. "And yes it is true that one day when he runs down the hall and says, 'Mom, I'm playing with that puppy... It is me and I love him too."9. "It's easier to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night now cuz you don't have to worry about stepping on my ever changing sleeping position."
10. "When the doc asked you on Tuesday if you were still running, it's ok that you got sad and told her you weren't sure when you would run again. Just know that you will and I will be by your side 'mushing' you up that hill like always."
11."I love you."
I know more reminders will pop up but those were the ones we conquered this week and dang it she was so special.
Its been a few months but nothing can mask the pain we still feel.

She was my Elliott's best friend. I wish I could tell him and know that he comprehends what I'm saying. Recently I was plugging my computer into the TV to watch a show and Kyla is on my lock screen. He saw it and stared and whined.

I

It's crazy to see the bond between two animals. They never lived together
but they were around each other enough to love one another. When we would say "Where's Elliott?" Kyla would either look at the door or window. Elliott would whine and look around for her.

When my sister had her baby she always thought Kyla would tell her when she was going into labor
because she was so protective of her and in tune with my sister and how she felt. I brought Elliott up there and during our visit (when she was due with Oliver) and he ran around the house and whined. He then moped around and wouldn't eat or anything. It was sad because I was watching him mourn her loss. He just expected her to be there.. and she wasn't. We got his spirits up eventually but you can still tell there is a void that cannot be filled.

We thought that my sister having the baby would help with that void but it hasn't. Its kind of a reminder that she isn't there like we thought she would be. My sister is having to deal with the visions she had about what Kyla would be like with Oliver.

They always went running together. They were partners. They would go running during her pregnancy until she wasn't able to anymore. Tiffany would tell Kyla (as she moped around restlessly) that they would have the best run after she had the baby and was clear to run again. This week my sister was cleared and as happy as she was to hear that news... it was that much harder to think of running without her and the promise she can't fulfill now.

I don't really know what I want from posting this.. because it seems so depressing writing it all out. Maybe one day I will be able to help someone else through their loss.

She is always in our hearts and will always live on through our memories.

Here are some of our favorite pictures of Kyla :)

If love could have kept you here, you would have lived forever.

I ain't no wall flower

Rainy day crafts with Elliott

I'm attempting this... a felt wallflower on a fabric covered canvas.

We shall see what it turns out like. I'm doing this blog as I make this.

This is what you will need...

  • Canvas
    • Mine is 12x16 but I don't think it really matters
  • Fabric
    • Make sure it can cover the canvas and be wrapped around and glued on the back
    • I got a 1/2 a yard of both fabrics shown
    • Iron it so there are no wrinkles
    • Get crazyyy with the patterns! :)
  • Felt
    • Any pretty color will do!
  • Hot glue gun
    • I'm sure you can use something else but this was the easiest thing for me
    • Extra glue sticks- fo sho!
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Pen
  • Clothespins
  • A sweet companion
    • of course!

1. Center your canvas on the fabric (duh)

2. Glue and wrap the fabric on the back.(mine looks wrinkly) On the opposite side pull TIGHT and glue.

3. Glue corners down.. like a Christmas present :)

4. TADAAAA!!!

5. Let your sweet companion out for a potty break --no picture needed--

6. Get side tracked for 20 mins.

7. Start cutting the felt petals. I cut them into rectangles and then later on I will cut them into the petal shape. Placing one of the cut rectangles on top to cut around because the felt is firm and kinda sticks together.
I'm going to try the sizes from the tutorials I have read. Which includes 3 different sizes.. you may guess what they are... small, medium and large!
  • Small: Cut 18 lil petals for the inner part of the flower and the bud
    • 3"x 2 1/4"
  • Medium: 10 middle petals
    • 3 3/4"x 2 1/2"
  • Large: 10 outer petals
    • 4 1/2"x 3"
    • I made 7 petals out of one sheet of felt (from Hobby Lobby- 25 cents a sheet)

I used 3 sheets of felt total.

8. Start with the large petals. Put a dot of glue in the middle of the shorter side of the rectangle and pinch them. I carefully folded them in half making sure not to spread the glue too much. Hold that pinch until they are dry. **remember hot glue guns are hot and the glue is too.. so be careful**(guilty)

9.Put a dot of glue on either side of the previous glued crease and fold the felt down. Again.. hold until the glue sticks.

If you don't pinch them long enough this will happen:

If you have clothespins.. pinch them down to make sure the glue holds.

I completed gluing all the large pieces. (I feel like this part takes the longest because the glue has to dry) [[I have now aged 3 years]]

10. Laugh because your sweet companion jumped back up on the chair after his potty break and is still laying there sleeping.

11. Now is when I cut the rectangle into a petal shape.

(I placed the side I cut on the opposite side to make them symmetrical)

Complete cutting them into the petal on all the large pieces.

12. I placed them on the canvas centered and made sure I liked the layout of them. I put a ton of glue on the bottom to make sure they would stick

13. I then glued the medium size petals and cut them into shape and glued them BETWEEN the large petals. When I placed them I slightly folded the widest part of the petal upward.

14. I glued 10 of the small petals the same way and laid them between the medium petals that are already glued.

15. Take 4 of the petals that are left and put a dot of glue like previous petals but don't glue the second part.

16. Place them in the middle and glue your heart away! I wish I would have done 5 of those petals to cover more space but.. it is what it is. You can tweak it the way you want.

17. I cut the 4 pieces left into the petal form and made each one slightllly smaller than the other. I rolled them and glued. Each point of the petal on a different section of the bud. (sorry no picture)

18. I loaded that puppy with glue and shoved it in the center. Putting the bud in the middle made the last 2 petals point out more.

BAMM!!!

he likes it. wahooo!!!

I have supplies for another one.. I may change the type of flower and I will put that on here too :) Thanks for reading this and if you have questions definitely let me know! I tried to be as thorough as possible.

Sidenote: I only hurt myself a few times and took 1 million breaks in between because I have a horrible attention span today.

beepope out.

ima bee me :)

Since this is my very first blog post --ever-- in the history of .. well me.. I may be a little rusty on it.

My name is Brittny and I am a daughter, sister, wife, aunt (my newest and most proud title), friend, and mom ((of a few fur babies)). I am 25 and am still finding myself and what I want to do with my life. I enjoy long walks on the beach [jk - kind of] I love doing crafts, painting my nails and making things that are ugly... pretty again.

With this blog.. I don't really have a main focus point; one day I may just want to write about something and another may be a tutorial. If you enjoy a blog that is super random.. then this is definitely the one for you.

In a nut shell.. this is me. I hope this selfie helps put me into perspective for you.

My dog is pretty cool. His name is Elliott and he is a bichon frise. He is 5 years old <<in 6 days>>. He is my best friend. He can be the cutest thing in the world.. then the most annoying. He believes he is a guard dog, so he barks and cries and runs all over the house just because he heard a noise.

He voluntarily jumped in this basket and fell asleep

My sister, Tiffany, is one of the sole reasons I am as happy in life as I am. She brings funny to a whole other level. There are many adjectives to describe her.. remarkable seems to fit for right now. Remarkable in the sense that, no matter what I need- at any given moment- she will become.. whether I need encouragement, a smile, an ear to vent, a punch in the face when I'm wrong (not literally), and just everything a sister should be /and more\.
 she says hiiii

We were anticipating the arrival of Oliver (her son) and took this pic...
that night she had the baby.

Hopefully she doesn't care that I introduced my dog before her.. I'm not going in any particular order. I just figured I should introduce my main peeps so when I talk about them later on.. y'all will know who I'm talking about.

I'm married to the manliest man ever created. He is not afraid of anything except squashing spiders (which I am too- so we just put buckets over them and pray our cat doesn't knock them over... until his mom comes and kills them for us). He is hardheaded and feisty but can also be super sweet and caring. I know he will be there for me whenever I need him. We do a lot of outdoorsy things and he is a good teacher when I need him to be. He is super country and I love his accent. His name is Josh and we have been married for 4 and a half years.

this is a way-back-when pic

We got married Nov 14, 2009. He was a marine and did 2 infantry tours to A-stan.

This is his second homecoming from Afghanistan

Anddd.. this is us now. He doesn't like taking pics (if you can't tell lol)

I have more people to introduce but for now I am gonna take a beat. This whole blog thing is actually kinda fun. I feel slightly narcissistic but whatev. It's my blog and so I can do what I want to!  So ima bee me :)
